Adam Patrick Devine was born on 7th November 1983 in Iowa, United States. He was born to Dennis Devine and Penny Devine. Devine went to Orange Coast College to complete his graduation, with his friend and co-start Blake Anderson.
Devine started working in Los Angeles as an actor and a stand-up comedian after his graduation.
When he was 11 years old, Devine had a bike accident that left him with fatal injuries and he went into a coma. He had to go through 26 surgeries over years after the accident and was dependent on a wheelchair.
He regained mobility after years but was left with scars on his legs. After going back to school, Devine was bullied by many and he used comedy to divert attention from his injuries.
He said that it was due to this reason that he learned how to use comedy to bring people together.

Devine created a comedy group with his friends Blake Anderson, Kyle Newacheck, and Anders Holm and named it “Mail Order Comedy”.
