Amy Beth Schumer was born on June 1, 1981, in Newyork City, New York. She is the firstborn of Sandra Jane and Gordon David Schumer. Her father owned a baby-furniture shop. She was raised as a Jewish.
In the early years, she had a rich life, until her father’s business went down. Later Schumer’s father was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. After her parents’ got divorced, she moved to Long Island with her mother and continued education there.
Schumer has a sister, Kim Caramele, who is a comedy writer and a producer. She also has a step-brother, Jason Stein, who is a musician.
Amy graduated from Townsend University with a degree in theatre in 2003. She returned to New York and continued her studies along with doing bartending and waitressing.
