Early Life
Joel Thomas Zimmerman aka Deadmau5 was born on January 5, 1981 in Niagara Falls, Ontario. He is the middle child of the couple, Nancy Johnson and Rodney Thomas Zimmerman.
Deadmau5 has an elder sister, Jennifer, and a younger brother, Chris. They all have a mixed ancestry; German, Swiss, and English.
He graduated from Westlane Secondary School in Niagara Zimmerman received his first piano as a Christmas gift, when he was a teenager.
Zimmerman began working with an online music licence company after his graduation.

While working on the hardware of a computer, Zimmerman found a dead mouse inside. His friend’s began calling him “dead mouse guy”, out of which Zimmerman made the name Deadmau5 as his online game id.

On December 17, 2015, Deadmau5 deleted his Twitter and Facebook accounts. Although he did not delete his Instagram account, he wasn’t found active.
