Eddie’s full name was Edward Lodewijk Van Halen. He was born on January 26, 1955, in Amsterdam, Netherlands. Eddie’s father Jan van Halen was a Dutch clarinetist, saxophonist, and pianist and his mother Eugenia Van Halen belonged to Rangkasbitung located on the island of Java in Indonesia.
Alex and Eddie were two brothers, Eddie being the younger one. The family shifted from the Netherlands to the United States in the early 1960s and settled in Pasadena, California.
