Early Life
Mike Rowe was born on March 18, 1962, to John Rowe and Peggy Rowe in Baltimore, Maryland. Both of his parents were teachers and according to him his show ‘Dirty Jobs’ is a tribute to the hard work of both his father and his grandfather.
It has been reported that one of the major reasons that he started writing and narrating when was a kid and joined the Eagle Scout as a volunteer and use to read children for the blind. Mike graduated from Overlea Highschool in 1980.
He pursued his degree from Essex Community College for a while but then shifted to Towson University and pursued a communications degree instead. He had an innate desire for performing right from the time of his childhood. After his graduation he was offered several roles as a host, working on shows such as “On-Air TV”, “New York Expeditions”, etc.

After graduating from Towson University in 1985, Mike Rowe started hosting numerous shows. His debut show was for Your New Home which broadcasted on WJZ-TV for 15 years. In the mid-1990s, he was offered a gig for performing as a host for a CD-ROM Trivia game.
Later, he was hired for hosting a home-shopping channel called QVC, followed by hosting an instructional guide for a satellite TV service. He landed his first breakthrough period in 2001 when he was offered two considerable hosting jobs.

Another huge breakthrough in his life arrived in after Dirty Jobs in 2012 and he was offered to travel Egypt and explore ancient Egyptian tombs and ruins with famed archaeologist Zahi Hawass which was recorded was showcased on Discovery Channel.
By the end of 2012, he also hosted a major Discovery Channel series called How Booze Built America. 2014 marked the remake of Dirty Jobs which was renamed as “Someone’s Gotta Do It”. The format of the show was exactly the same as showcased by Discovery Channel in its earlier days.
