Early Life

Redman’s real name is Reginald Noble, and he was born on 17th April 1970.

He took birth in Newark in New Jersey to Eddie Noble and Darlene Noble. He has a sister named Rosalyn and a cousin named Tame One and both of them are rappers too. 

Redman attended West Side High School and enrolled for an undergraduate degree in Montclair State University in 1987. But his academic performance was poor and thus he was expelled in his first year when he was 16.

Being expelled, he went back to his home but within a few days, his mother Darlene Noble threw him out of home for selling cocaine.

Career

 After being expelled from home, two years later, Redman started working as a young DJ-MC and was known as DJ KutKilla.

He worked on hip-hop tracks and played them on vinyl records in house parties and parks around New Jersey and New York. Redman also worked as a DJ for a hip hop trio named “Lords of the Underground” and quickly captured the interest of Erick Sermon of the group EMPD.

He was asked out to join a tour by Erick where he had his first performance in 1990.

Since then Redman became an official rap artist and started his work with Erick on his album named What? Three Album in 1992. 

Redman’s first official work was on an EMPD album named “Business As Usual” in 1990. 

He appeared on two tracks of the album, “Hardcore” and “Brothers On My Jock”.  In 1994, Redman released his first solo album named “Dare Iz a Darkside”.

The first track in this album was “Rockafella” which he produced reusing the works of Leon Haywood and George Clinton.

His second album was a remarkable one because most of the tracks in this album were produced by him.

His third album was named “Muddy Waters” which was produced by his mentor Erick Sermon in 1996. Some tracks in this album were “Whatever Man” and “It’s Like That”. 

Recording Industry Association of America certified “Muddy Waters” with gold in 1997. In this same year, Redman appeared on Tupac Shakur’s album, “All Eyez on Me” with his friend Method Man.

In 1999, he went on the Hard Knock Life Tour at Air Canada Centre in Toronto. 

Redman has a collaboration album with the group Def Squad named “El Nino” which was released in 1998. Next year he released another collaboration album with Method Man, titled “Blackout”.

Redman’s fifth studio album was “Malpractice” which got released in 2001. 

His acting career started in 2001, where he worked with Method Man in a comedy film named “How High”. He also starred in a horror film named “Seed of Chucky”.
