Early Life

Scott Cawthon was born in Houston, Texas, United States on 26th July 1971 and is the only child.

Although there is not much information about his educational institutions he had mentioned that he graduated from ‘The Art Institution of Houston.’

Cawthon came from a Christian family. He is a believer in God and shows faith in Catholicism. He has been a member of the church organization called ‘Hope Animation.’ They support the creation of animated films that patronize Christian beliefs and moral values. 

Career 

Scott Cawthon allegedly started working on animations and games since 1990. The first game that Cawthon released was a childhood product of the game developer. Cawthon officially launched his first-ever game titled Doofas at the beginning of 2000. 

His career as a game developer officially began in the year 2002 after he released the game RРG Max. This game mainly promoted Christian values. 

Later, he developed three games in 2003. The names are Bogart, Lost Island and Legacy of Flan. In 2005, he developed another game called ‘Legend of the White Whale.’ 

In 2006, Scott Cawthon developed another game called Weird Colony. However, it failed to become enough successful. 

Afterward, Cawthon became a member of the Hope Animation organization. He began making animated videos that portrayed the teachings of Christianity. 

On 19th March 2007, he released an 8-part series program titled ‘The Pilgrims Progress’ on his YouTube channel. The series marked the beginning of Cawthon’s career as a game developer.

Its purpose was to make children learn about the moral and ethical values of Christianity besides enjoying the animated programs.

This series was an adaption of John Bunyan’s novel that goes by the same title. This novel introduced the teachings of Christianity through allegorical stories. 

Later, Scott Cawthon developed several other games. These include ‘Sit N Survive,’ ‘Chipper,’ ‘Sons Lumber Co,’ and ‘The Desolate Hope.’ However, the games failed to impress people. They griped stating all of his games seemed similar.

This led Cawthon to concentrate on developing better gaming characters and plots so he could develop more reliable and unique games.

Scott Cawthon started developing the game Five Nights of Freddy’s that featured an animatronic-like character. Finally, in June 2014, he submitted the game to IndieDB and gained positive feedback.

The game became very popular within a short period of time and Cawthon’s hard work pulled off.

Besides, he submitted the game to Desura and Steam Greenlight too. It became available on Steam for $4.9. The Five Nights of Freddy’s received positive remarks from the critics too.

Later, Scott Cawthon released the second part of Five Nights at Freddy’s. The third part got released on 2nd March 2015. Right after 2 months, he released the fourth part of the game along with an additional Halloween update.

In April 2015, Warner Bros. Pictures obtained the right to the game and made a movie on it.

Following the Five Nights at Freddy’s success, Scott Cawthon wrote a novel on the basis of this game.

He named the novel Five Nights at Freddy’s: The Silver Eyes. It got released on 17 December 2015 on Amazon as an eBook. Apart from this, he signed a three-book deal with Scholastic Corporation. 

Scott started developing a new role-playing video game named FNaF World which was an RPG game. He released it on 21st January 2016.

Later that year, he released another survival game called Five Nights at Freddy’s sister on 7th October. 

He continued working on his next novels in the meantime. He released the second novel titled Five Nights at Freddy’s: The Twisted Ones on 27th June 2017.

Afterward, the developer released his third novel named Five Nights at Freddy’s: The Fourth Closet on 26th June 2018.
